The Wait is Almost Over: Soft Opening in January

Upper Level: View to McCartney with furniture

As students head home for Winter Break, they finished their 3rd semester without library study spaces. But the wait will soon be over: When students return for the Spring semester on January 20th, the doors to Tebo Library will be OPEN.

The final transformation of Tebo Library will take place over winter break as the construction crews add the finishing touches and complete the punch list for each space. By mid-January, our library staff and partners will get the “green light” to begin moving into the new spaces and getting settled.

Because we didn’t want to wait a single day longer than necessary, we are moving fast! There won’t be much time between getting the approval to move in and the first day of class. Less than a week, in fact!

When you visit Tebo Library on January 20 for our “soft opening”, here’s what to expect:

  • The Welcome Desk will be open and ready to answer questions and checkout technology and books.
  • The study spaces will be open and ready for use. Go ahead and explore and scope out your new favorite nook!
  • It won’t look “perfect” yet. You may see bare walls awaiting artwork or empty shelves waiting for the truckloads of off-site books to return. Rooms won’t be on the reservation system yet as we get to know our new spaces. Some study rooms are still being built. Some signage will be in place, and some will be in process. You’ll get to see our progress!
  • Most of our partners will be open and moving in too! Watch the renovation status page for details.

We can’t wait to see our students and our community experience these spaces for the first time! Stay tuned for more details about the “soft opening”.
