At long last, Tebo Library will reopen on Tuesday, January 20! We passed our inspection on January 14th and are getting settled as quickly as possible so we can open our doors. There are still many finishing touches to put on the spaces, which is why this is a soft opening. We know you are eager to see the building and students want to start using our study spaces, so we are choosing to open as soon as possible, on the first day of class.
You are welcome to explore on your own during our operating hours. We will not be able to give impromptu tours, but we would be very happy to schedule a tour for your department, class, or other group.
What you will see on January 20:
- Tebo Library faculty and staff who can’t wait to welcome you and your students
- A brand new Welcome Desk
- Beautiful study spaces throughout the building
- 10 individual and 15 group study rooms
- A quiet floor (2nd floor)
- The Makerspace, Institute for New Media Studies, and Writing Center getting settled into their new spaces
- A brand new cafe from Union Catering Company, Roar-N-Pour, that will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm Monday through Friday during semesters
- Extended hours to accommodate students’ evening studying. See our hours here (be sure to scroll to the week of January 20th or beyond)
- And plenty more! You’ll have to explore and see it for yourself.
Bear with us if these spaces aren’t all fully up and running on the 20th — we only have a couple of days to move in!
Later in the semester, we will hold a ribbon cutting to celebrate Tebo Library’s completion when we are done with all of the finishing touches.
Things you will see later in the semester include:
- Room reservations for study rooms and meeting rooms
- Books! The shelves are mostly empty, but we will start putting books back onto the shelves very soon.
- Interior signage, directories, and artwork
- The Honors College will move into their new Tebo Library home later this spring
Thank you for your kindness and patience while we have gone through this renovation process. I hope you will love Tebo Library as much as we do. Please reach out to me or your liaison librarian with any questions.
